Eiffel tower, located in Paris of France is the tallest metal structure in the world. This structure is built in the year 1889 by a French civil engineer Gustave Eiffel. Initially it is constructed as an exhibit structure marking the 100th year of French revolution.
This metal structure is over 324 meters tall weighing around 10,100 tonne consisting 18,000 pieces of puddle iron and 2.5 million rivets. It took exactly two years, two months and five days for the construction workers to built this gigantic structure.
There are more than 500 employees working in Eiffel tower. The tower is repainted every 7 years which requires 60 tonne of paint. The noted fact is that the volume of the tower alters in heat and cold.
It is named as the most visited paid tourist spot around the globe bringing over 7 million people per year. Visitors use lifts to have a spectacular view from the top. Also it serves as a radio signal transmitter. This tower during the time of war intercepted the enemy signals which helped the French army. It has also some restaurants in it for the visitors.
